Activeperl 5.12.2 download12/12/2023 Item 4.) To enable the perl "PATH" you add an entry after the standard system path I am used to the idea from "linux" to do on the fly scripts everywhere. >perl -V or -v if typed get me the perl Verion or Version build. Item 3.) What I mean by adding the "PATH" is the physical "PATH" to perl engine isĪllways available at the command prompt. Has been changed at needs to start in "C:\Windows C:\Windows\system32 " to at least function Note: If you system is slow in starting up or some operatins take excess time the "PATH" If you need to find the backup based on these instructions it will be in "C:\User\YOURNAME\path-machine-date.txt"Ĭ) Verify that the system path is corrent look at item 4 for what is required. ) I only had one Windows XP machine that one of there security fixes caused problems.īefore changing the "PATH" create a backup and look at the entries.Ī) at a command prompt >echo %PATH%>path-machine-date.txt if you enter this you have The history and confusion comes from Perl is basically a "Linux" based engine. Item1.) I have been using the Active State Perl Community editions on IIS and Windows since the 5.2 release.ĭuring the same period I have been running the same releases on "linux". Maybe there aren't many people left who develop using perl on a local web server.Ī am sorry that you have had a streak of problems. I'm just surprised that there are not more people It seems like Active Perl is just not working correctly. I can't imagine what more there could be to solve this. If you ask me it seems like a problem with Active State. So I don't believe the problem is with any of the scripts. The perl scripts are ones I have written and have been using for years on IIS on XP and on my web server. The cgi-bin and the perl scripts are working so I don't believe it has anything to do with the cgi-bin setup. I'm not sure what you mean by 3 Have I added the perl directory to my stystem path? If your referring to the location of perl specified in the script it doesn't require it on windows. I did create a cgi bin and it is doing it's job I installed Active State's latest version 5.12.2 Just strange things that are hard to nail down. Images not displaying, colors from config files not being picked up. The instructions provided in the link above got me all set up once again but this computer is exhibiting the exact same behavior. I went through the whole process again on a new computer running win7 32 bit this time. Just as a general note using the X64 version vs X86 version really has no advantage. Item 4.) Did you add the "IUSR_machine" account to have access to perl directory?Īfter getting the answers to about we can work out which is causng problems. Item 3.) Have you added the perl directory to you system path? Item 2.) Another question after the installation did you create a "cgi-bin" alias to execute perl scrripts? Item 1.) Your post said your using Active states perl question is which version (community edition, version 5.8,version 5.10)? Sorry your having problems getting perl going. I just get the red x as if the url is invalid. Then but it turns out the instructions on this pageĮverything seems perfect right off the bat, but for some reason after a few clicks through a gallery script that I have used for years, all the images stop showing. Now, after many months I have a project that has come up that means I must get this working. Well, since I last posted on this thread I pretty much got frustrated and just gave up.
